The Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 22-5 on Sunday afternoon, ending the Crimson Tide's season.

Right-handed pitcher Jacob McNairy started on the mound for the Crimson Tide. He pitched 2.1 innings, recording six hits, seven runs (seven earned), one walk, and three strikeouts.

Wake Forest got off to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back home runs. The first was a two-run bomb by first baseman Nick Kurtz and the second was a solo shot by third baseman Brock Wilken.

Alabama got on the board in the second inning with a two-run home run by right fielder Andrew Pinckney, cutting Alabama's deficit 3-2.

The Demon Deacons extended their lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by center fielder Tommy Hawke to put Wake Forest up 5-2.

The Crimson Tide cut its deficit by a run in the third inning with a leadoff solo home run by third baseman Colby Shelton to make the score 5-3.

Right-handed pitcher Kade Woods came in for relief in the third inning. He pitched 0.2 innings, recording two hits, three runs (three earned), and one walk.

Wake Forest had a monster five-run third inning on a hat trick of home runs. The first was a solo shot by Wilken, his second on the afternoon. The second was a three-run homer by designated hitter Danny Corona and the third came from a solo bomb by catcher Bennett Lee to extend their lead 10-3.

Left-handed pitcher Hunter Furtado came in for relief in the fourth inning. He pitched 2.2 innings, recording one hit, two runs (two earned), three walks, and four strikeouts.

Wake Forest tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning from a two-RBI single by right fielder Pierce Bennett to extend the Demon Deacons lead 12-3.

Right-handed pitcher Riley quick came in for relief in the sixth inning. He pitched 0.2 innings, recording one hit and one walk.

Shelton added a run to the board for the Crimson Tide in the sixth inning, hitting a solo shot to left field to cut Alabama's deficit 12-4, his second on the day and No. 25 on the season.

Left-handed pitcher Alton Davis II came in for relief in the seventh inning. He pitched 1.0 inning, recording four hits, six runs (six earned), and one walk.

Crimson Tide catcher Mac Guscette put a run on the board in the seventh inning on a solo home run to cut Alabama's deficit 12-5.

Wake Forest recorded another monster inning in the seventh, this time scoring six runs. The scoring started with an RBI single by second baseman Justin Johnson, then a sacrifice fly by Bennett. Shortstop Marek Houston capped off the scoring with a grand slam to put the Demon Deacons up 18-5.

Right-handed pitcher Hunter Hoopes came in for relief in the eighth inning. He pitched 1.0 inning, recording two hits, three runs (three earned), two walks and a strikeout.

Right-handed pitcher Braylon Myers came in for relief in the ninth inning. He pitched the remainder of the game, recording two hits, one run (one earned), and two strikeouts.

The Demon Deacons added four more runs to the board in the ninth inning, all home runs. The first was a solo shot by Wilken and the second was a three-run homer by Corona to seal the 22-5 win.

The Alabama baseball team finishes its season 43-21, including 16-14 in conference play, made it to the fourth round of the 2023 SEC Tournament, hosted an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2006 as the No. 16 seed, and advanced to the Supers for the first time since 2010.
