Nate Oats Contract Details Revealed

Nate Oats has signed his contract extension with Alabama, and the Crimson Tide head coach earned a much-deserved pay raise.

Oats has been to the Sweet 16 twice, as well as won two SEC regular season championships and two SEC Tournament championships. He accomplished something that Alabama had never had happen in program history, at least legally.

Alabama is a top-four seed or higher in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history. It happened in 1986 and 1987, but 1987 was vacated by the NCAA due to illegal financials.

Oats has signed an extension through 2030, where he will make $5 million in the first year. If Oats wants to leave during the first two years of the deal, the buyout will be $18 million.

This is the second consecutive season Oats has received a contract extension and pay raise. The new contract will inflate every year, with Oats earning bonuses for tournament wins and championships.

With several high-profile college basketball jobs coming open. this offseason, Alabama nailed down their coach for the foreseeable future.

Nate Oats released a statement on his extension,

“I am excited and honored for the chance to extend my relationship with the University of Alabama,” Oats said. “I have said from day one, my family and I love this community, the city of Tuscaloosa, and the University so I am thankful and appreciative for all the support we have received from President Stuart Bell, Chancellor St. John, The Board of Trustees and Greg Byrne. We have enjoyed tremendous success during our five years at Alabama and we look forward to building on that for many years to come.”
