Authorities say a student was wounded by gunfire after a high school football game in Mobile.

Mobile police are investigating the shooting outside Ladd-Peebles Stadium as fans were leaving a Thursday night game between Murphy and Blount high schools.

WPMI-TV reports that the student, whose name wasn't released, was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at USA Medical Center after being shot in the mouth.

Melvin Dallas, who was attending the game with his sister, tells AL.com that he was in his truck when bullets struck his vehicle. He said his first reaction was to get down and hope that his truck kept him alive. He said the truck was hit five times in gunfire that last about 30 seconds.

Murphy won the game, 35-34, in double overtime.
