Alabama and Clemson have created a modern rivalry on the gridiron, meeting four times in the last five years in the College Football Playoff. The Tide and Tigers have split the four meetings, 2-2. Now the two schools have agreed to face-off against one another on the hardwood. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports Alabama and Clemson will play on December 12 in State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

State Farm Arena is the host of the Atlanta Hawks, but on the December 12 it will be the host of a college basketball event. Three SEC teams have already signed up to play with a fourth game still pending.

Alabama has played Clemson in basketball nine times since 1949 with a record of 3-6. The last time the two schools met on the hardwood, Clemson left with a 67-54 win on December 18, 2016. Clemson finished the shortened 2019 season with a 16-15 overall record and a 9-11 ACC record. The Tigers finished ninth place in the ACC however they did secure victories over, at the time third ranked Duke and sixth ranked Florida State.

Alabama's 2020-21 schedule is still taking shape but this past week it has confirmed contests with Yale and Clemson. Head coach Nate Oats has been adamant about playing high level competition in order to prepare for conference play, he's off to a good start for the upcoming season.
