The Alabama gymnastics team missed the NCAA Championship Semifinals for the first time in two years when the team finished fourth in the Norman, OK Regional finals on April 1.

The Crimson Tide got off to a mediocre start on vault and couldn't recover to beat out the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners, No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats, or the Ohio St. Buckeyes. Oklahoma and Kentucky will compete at the Semifinals in Ft. Worth this weekend.

While the season didn't go the way the team hoped, it still has one gymnast representing the university in Luisa Blanco. The senior All-American earned the honors of competing on the uneven bars as an individual after scoring a 9.975 on March 30. Her nearly-perfect score tied her career best which she's scored three times in her time at Alabama.

Blanco played a crucial role in this year's squad. Her veteran leadership helped the team in recording its fifth best score in program history at the Metroplex Challenge in February. She was also apart of the uneven bars lineup that set the program's third best bar score with a 49.625 where she scored a 9.950; the beam lineup that set the second and third best program records with a 49.700 and a 49.650 where she scored perfect 10's both times, and tied the program's best floor record (49.700) where she scored a 9.975.

While she is a senior, Blanco could potentially come back for a fifth year because of the extra year of eligibility granted due to COVID-19. Her decision remains to be seen, but in case it is her last time competing with the Script A on her chest, fans can watch Blanco compete one more time on Thursday, April 13 at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The gymnastics semifinals will air on ESPN2.
