TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide (28-7, 7-6) falls in game one of their home SEC series against Mississippi State 13-3.

Alabama starter Zane Adams was tagged with the loss, pitching four innings, allowing nine hits and seven earned runs while punching out two batters.

MSU reliever Stone Simmons earned the win for the Bulldogs.

Following a 30-minute rain delay, the Bulldogs' order began the game hot, tallying three runs in the first frame to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

Following a scoreless second frame, Mississippi State added to its lead in the top of the third. Shortstop Sawyer Reeves ripped a liner to left center for a solo home run— his first of the season— to extend the MSU lead to 4-0.

Alabama began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the frame. A Justin Lebron leadoff double set up a Kade Snell single through the right side of the infield to score the first run of the inning, cutting the Bulldogs' lead to 4-1. The Crimson Tide couldn't cut into the deficit anymore in the third.

The Crimson Tide batting order came up big after a scoreless fourth for Adams and the Alabama defense. Richie Bonomolo Jr. lined a triple off the right field wall with two outs to extend the inning, allowing Justin Lebron to rip a no-doubt home run to the Right Field Ragers to cut the lead to 4-3 and put Alabama right back in it.

Then, disaster struck in the next half inning. The Bulldogs rattled off seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth to bury the Crimson Tide in a nearly insurmountable lead. 9-3, Bulldogs.

With the Alabama offense desperately needing a response, Mississippi State relief pitcher Stone Simmons put the Crimson Tide lineup down in 1-2-3 fashion to keep the momentum in the visitor's dugout.

The Bulldogs added two more runs, one in the seventh via a Sawyer Reeves RBI double and the eighth on a Bryce Chance sacrifice fly to put the Crimson Tide to run-rule the Crimson Tide.

Alabama returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. as they look to even up the series.
