Iron Throne? Nah, Iron Cup

The Iron Bowl is one of the most heated rivalries in collegiate athletics, with many of the games coming down to "photo finishes."

Most recently, 4th and 31 was the latest photo finish in the Iron Bowl.

The Iron Bowl of basketball between Alabama and Auburn takes that rivalry to another level, with the potential for Alabama and Auburn to play four times in one season (twice in the regular season, once in the SEC Tournament, Once in the NCAA Tournament). The rivalry shows how heated it can be every time they match up.

Alabama and Auburn will meet for the first time in the 2024-2025 athletic calendar long before the Iron Bowl or the Iron Bowl of basketball.

On September 6th, Alabama and Auburn will meet at the ice rink in Pelham, Alabama, as the Iron Cup will be played that Friday.

It is considered a home game for Alabama, with the Crimson Tide (Frozen Tide) playing home games at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena.

The rivalry will get started early for the 2024-2025 season. Alabama will play its two main rivals in hockey this season, with the season opener against Auburn on Sept. 6, and ending its season back at home against the University of Tennessee on March 1.

Alabama and Auburn will take the ice at 7:00 p.m. on the Friday before the Crimson Tide football team takes on South Florida.
