Ohio's legal sportsbooks were instructed to no longer take bets on Alabama baseball games due to irregular gambling activity detected in a recent game in the series against LSU, according to a report from ESPN's David Purdum on Monday evening.

The reporting says Ohio Casino Control Commission executive director Matthew T. Schuler took the action based on an alert from U. S. Integrity, an independent integrity monitoring firm in Las Vegas, that claimed "suspicious wagering activity" took place in the Tide's 8-6 Friday loss in Baton Rouge.

Schuler's emergency order to Ohio's licensed sportsbooks in response forbids "the acceptance of any wagers on University of Alabama baseball effective immediately."

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Luke Holman was the planned starter for Friday, appearing on the team's gameday social media graphics, but was scratched shortly before first pitch for fellow sophomore Hagan Banks.

Alabama trailed 8-1 through seven innings on Friday before rallying in the eighth and ninth for five additional runs.

The Tide lost each of its three road games against No.1 LSU over the weekend and faces No. 5 Vanderbilt in a three game series set to begin on Thursday. All three losses to the Tigers were within four runs.
