Joe Judge Adds Another Alabama Connection

Former Crimson Tide wide receiver Nick Williams will join the New York Giants as an offensive quality control coach. His hire makes the sixth assistant hired by new head coach Joe Judge with Crimson Tide connections. Williams joins the Giants after spending the last three seasons coaching wide receivers and serving as NFL Liaison at Southern Illinois.

Williams was a member of the Crimson Tide football team from 2009-2012, winning three national championships. His father, Bobby Williams, was with the Crimson Tide as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator from 2008-20015, he spent a year as special assistant in 2016 until moving onto the University of Oregon.

Williams graduated with a degree in Business Management in 2012. He spent one season as a graduate assistant at Valdosta State working with wide receivers and the scout team defense.

He was hired by Jacksonville State in 2014 to coach wide receivers and assist with special teams. He assisted the Gamecocks in winning three Ohio Valley Conference championships and an overall record 33-6.

In 2017 Williams moved on to Southern Illinois, where he was hired to coach wide receivers and serve as liaison to the NFL. Williams helped Darrell James earn all-conference in his first year as coach and aided Raphael Leonard to a big season in 2018 that subsequently saw him sign an NFL deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2019 he coached Avante Cox to second team all conference honors.

Coach Judge, coached at Alabama from 2009-2011 as an assistant to the special teams. He has hired Burton Burns, Crimson Tide running backs coach from 2007-17,; Freddie Kitchens, Alabama quarterback from 1994-1997; Kevin Sherrer, tight end, Alabama graduate assistant and director of player development at various times from 1993-2012; Jody Wright, Crimson Tide grad assistant, offensive analyst and director of player personnel at various times from 2010-2017; and Amos Jones, Alabama player, grad assistant and special teams coordinator at various points from 1978-1991.
