The SEC has named Alabama senior Herb Jones its Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

In Monday’s regular-season finale of AP Top 25 polls, the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team cemented a final ranking of No. 6 in the country. This comes just two days before the SEC Tournament is set to begin in Nashville, Tennessee.

Alabama senior Herb Jones was named one of ten semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy, Alabama Basketball announced earlier Thursday.

The SEC announced today that the Alabama Crimson Tide (18-6, 13-2) will play the Georgia Bulldogs (14-9, 7-9) in Athens on Saturday March 6 at 1 p.m. CT. The Crimson Tide has this game added to its schedule due to the postponement of its trip to Texas A&M on Feb. 18.

The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide (18-6, 13-2) fell to the No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks (18-5, 10-4) 81-66 on the road, failing to capitalize on its opportunity to secure the SEC regular season championship. Arkansas is now riding an eight-game winning streak in the SEC after the victory.

In Monday’s latest AP poll for the top 25 college basketball teams in the country, the Alabama Crimson Tide (18-5, 13-1) jumped two spots to No. 6, the team's highest AP ranking since December 2006.
