With the fourth pick in the third round, the Kansas City Royals selected outfielder, Tyler Gentry. Gentry became the second-highest outfielder selected in program history after Joe Vitiello went in the first round in 1991. Gentry is eligible to return to Alabama should he choose not to sign a professional contract.

Alabama baseball had three players from the 2017-18 roster selected on Wednesday to close out the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Alabama closer Thomas Burrows was the 11th pick of the fourth round (117 overall), going to the Seattle Mariners in the 2016 MLB First Year Draft. Burrows is the first player taken from the 2015-16 Crimson Tide roster. Alabama outfielder Casey Hughston was selected 96th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday.

Along with losing shortstop Mikey White to the MLB Draft, the Alabama baseball program will be without one of its top signees from the 2015 class.
