PAC 12 Deciding to Drop the Name of the "Civil War" Rivalry Betwe
The University of Oregon and Oregon State, will discontinue their tradition of referring to their rivalry game as a "Civil War". This football rivalry dates back to November 3, 1894, when Oregon State beat Oregon 16-0. The two have had 122 meetings since then, and the game is the fifth-most contested rivalry in the country. Eugene and Corvallis are only separated by 50 miles, so the hatred runs deep between the in-state rivals. Overall, Oregon leads, 66–47–10 (.577) in the series.
