Former Alabama redshirt freshman defensive back Jeffery “Scooby” Carter was arrested yesterday in Tuscaloosa. Carter was arrested around 4 p.m. Wednesday on a third-degree domestic abuse charge. Carter’s girlfriend, Terren Merritt, was also arrested in the incident.

Carter was a four-star recruit as a member of the 2019 recruiting class and entered his name into the transfer portal originally in November, Carter withdrew his name from the portal in January but decided to re-enter the portal today.

According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Alabama defensive back Jeffery “Scooby” Carter has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal and will return to Tuscaloosa for the 2020 season. Carter played in three games for Alabama as a freshman this past year and recorded one tackle. Carter entered the transfer portal on November 18, two days after missing the road trip to Mississippi State reportedly due to suspension for missing class.
