The Holy Spirit Saints traveled to face the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights Friday night to kickoff the 2022 season of Alabama high school football. Tuscaloosa Academy got out to an early lead and were up 35-0 at the half, but after a few big plays from Holy Spirit, the final score resulted in a 45-12 victory for the Knights.
The Tuscaloosa Academy Knights (4-4, 4-0) defeated the Morgan Academy Senators (4-4, 2-2) on homecoming 17-7 to win the AISA 3A Region 2. The Knights defense held strong throughout the evening only allowing one touchdown and holding the Senators to just 1-for-6 on fourth down.

Alabama Crimson Tide redshirt senior Joshua Lanier has decided to enter the transfer portal according to BamaOnline's Charlie Potter. Lanier, a Tuscaloosa native and Tuscaloosa Academy graduate, played in seven games last season. All of Lanier's work has come on special teams, he did not see the field in 2019.
