Women's College World Series

For the fourth time in the last five years, Alabama will play in the Women’s College World Series as the Crimson Tide departed from Tuscaloosa early Tuesday morning en route to Oklahoma City and the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

The final field of eight is now set, as all of the top eight seeded teams will advance to the Women’s College World Series, which begins Thursday, May 28 in Oklahoma City at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

In a must-win situation, Alabama softball fell just short to Florida, who defeated the Crimson Tide, 6-3, on Tuesday to secure the Gators’ first national title and end Alabama’s season.

In a battle of two of the nation’s top pitchers, it was Florida that quieted the Alabama bats, as the Gators shut out the Crimson Tide, 5-0, in the Women’s College World Series championship series opener.

The Alabama softball team beat No. 1 seed Oregon, 2-0 to advance to the championship series of the 2014 Women’s College World Series being held in Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Alabama was behind early, but a pair of big home runs by Peyton Grantham and Jadyn Spencer ultimately powered the Crimson Tide to a 6-2 victory over Oklahoma in the opening game of the 2014 Women’s College World Series.

After a marathon win in game one, Alabama was more efficient in game two, defeating Nebraska 2-1 in the second game of the weekend to earn the Super Regional win and punch the Crimson Tide’s ninth ticket to the Women’s College World Series.
