Threats Force Schools to Postpone Thanksgiving Football Game

The annual Thanksgiving Day football game between two New Jersey high schools has been postponed because of threats.

The Asbury Park Press reports administrators at the Asbury Park and Neptune Township school districts agreed to postpone Thursday's game following what has been described as "credible, live threats."

Asbury Park Superintendent of Schools Lamont Repollet said in a statement both districts wanted to ensure students were safe. Repollet wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the threats, but said there is an ongoing investigation.

Administrators say the game between Asbury Park High School and Neptune Township High School will be played at a mutually agreed upon later date.

The teams have met every year on Thanksgiving Day since 1908, with the exception of a few changes.
