Three Former Tide Running Backs are Listed in the Top 10
The Tide continues to dominate at both the collegiate and professional levels. Moreover, the recognition goes beyond collegiate fame.
NFL Analyst Maurice Jones-Drew has listed three former Tide running backs among his top 10 leading rushers for the 2024 season.
Derrick Henry (#2): Jones-Drew anticipates that Henry and Lamar Jackson’s offensive duo could be terrifying and cause significant damage to defenses. Jones-Drew speaks highly of Henry’s physicality and speed, and how it will align perfectly with Baltimore’s ground attack, comparing it to “thunder and lighting in a Midwest June sky.”
Jahmyr Gibbs (#8): Jones-Drew credits the Lions for having a thunder and lightning combo, with David Montgomery as thunder and Gibbs as lightning. Lions fans could be witnessing another historic season. Anytime Gibbs has the ball, he poses a threat to defenses. Jones-Drew anticipates that Gibbs will have more carries than Montgomery this upcoming season.
And last but not least, coming in at the ninth rank is Josh Jacobs. Jones-Drew firmly believes that Jacobs will have a solid season, especially since he will likely be the Packers go-to running back. Jacobs could be in a better position with the Packers than his previous team, and it is anticipated that he and Jordan Love together could create significant challenges for defenders.
