Each week during the NFL regular season, I'll award one standout Alabama player of the week whose performance boosted his team to victory. The only criteria being his team must win. At the end of the season, I'll name the MVP and hand out a few other awards to recognize the excellence the Alabama Crimson Tide has present in the NFL.

With a league-best 55 (counting Jalen Hurts) active players under contract across 28 franchises, there are plenty of options to choose from. Here's this weeks winner:

The Dallas Cowboys' second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs is our Week 3 Bama Pro of the Week after a dominant performance against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Diggs recorded two tackles in the contest, but his coverage skills won the day, breaking up three passes and recording the first pick-six of his career.

Diggs was lined up across from former Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith for most of the game and held the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner in check, allowing just two receptions for nine yards.

Diggs's big moment came early in the third quarter when Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was looking for Smith on an out route. Diggs jumped the route and went untouched 59-yards to the endzone for his first career pick-six.

Coincidentally, the play, which featured three Crimson Tide alumni, happened just before Nick Saban joined Peyton and Eli Manning for their MegaCast on ESPN2.

Diggs has had a fantastic start to his sophomore NFL season. He's the only player in the league with an interception in each game this season, and the first Cowboy to do so in the first three games of a season since Everson Walls in 1985. As a result, the Cowboys lead the NFL in defensive turnovers.

Pro Football Focus has recognized Diggs's performance, grading him as the top cover corner in the NFL.

Next week Diggs and his Cowboys will take on Deonte Brown and the Carolina Panthers.
