Region play will kick back off this week as most high school games around the state of Alabama were non-region games last week, and the Friday night light action doesn't get much better than right here in West Alabama.

It's crunch time now, so which teams make a push for the playoffs, and which teams will spend the winter at home?

American Christian Academy @ Gordo

We can call this game the Battle of the Behemoths in 3A. ACA and Gordo have both been absolutely dominant thus far this season, so we'll get a good look at a potential 3A playoff match-up.

The Patriots of ACA are coming in at 5-0 (3-0 in region play), finally getting the respect they deserve, cracking the ASWA Top 10 for the first time this season (#7). They'll be hoping to continue their offensive firepower, as they've averaged 46 points/game so far, but something is going to have to give...

The 2nd ranked Green Wave have one of the best defenses in 3A, led by five-star linebacker Ben Davis. That defense is stingy, giving up only 11.8 points/game. With a win over the Patriots, we could see the Green Wave jump into the #1 spot in the ASWA poll.

Northridge @ Hillcrest

It's a huge city/county match-up in Tuscaloosa this weekend, two teams hoping to add another game advantage to their region standings.

The Jaguars of Northridge have played consistently through the first five weeks, and are looking to improve on their 4-1 overall record and 2-1 region record. They've had some blowouts, but they've also had a few close games. The Jaguars have found a formula to win, but it'll be tested come Friday night.

Hillcrest sports one of the best running backs not just in Alabama but in the entire country in Brian Robinson. They're also coming off a big rivalry win over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats, so look for them to bring in that same momentum that carried them through last week.

Berry @ Hubbertville

It's a top 10 match-up between two stout teams at the 1A level. The Berry Wildcats travel to Hubbertville and look to knock off the top-ranked Lions.

Berry are entering the game as the 10th ranked team in 1A with a 4-1 record, and averaging 36 points/game. They'll need all the offense they can muster if they plan on taking down the Lions.

Hubbertville (4-0, 3-0) have given up only 24 total points all year, and pitching two shut outs in the process. This Region 6 match-up could potentially be one of the games of the entire season.
