It was a bitter ending for the Thompson vs Hillcrest game, as the Warriors took down the Patriots 45-20 on senior night for Hillcrest High School. With another region loss this year in 7a football, the Hillcrest Patriots are out of the playoff picture as there are only two games left in the regular season.

Hillcrest held strong in the first quarter playing some great defense that led to an early interception. The Patriots had a hard time capitalizing on the defensive success during the first half which the Warriors took advantage of.

Thompson went up on the Patriots by three scores early on with one being a rushing touchdown and two through the air. Hillcrest started to make some good drives towards Thompsons side of the field at the end of the first quarter. Bryson Kimbrough was able to connect with Khaden Smith for a nice pass to get into Warrior territory. Kimbrough and Co. were able to get on the scoreboard after a 7-minute possession drive for 80 yards.

Thompson wasn't slow to score again after halftime as freshman wide receiver Dedrick Kimbrough made a stunning one-handed catch in the endzone to make the score 31-7.

Bryson Kimbrough still trying to make it happen was able to connect with Khaden Smith on a 40-yard pass which set them up for the touchdown pass that came afterward to put Hillcrest on the board 31-13.

Hillcrest was able to score once more but it didn't last long as Thompson's receiver Darrien Mosley made a daring sideline catch that turned into a touchdown. The final score was 45-20.
