It’s a big February Friday for Alabama athletics as five of its teams will be in action. The top ranked Alabama softball team heads down to Tallahassee Florida to play two games with each North Carolina and Florida State. The women’s gymnastics team hosts its “Power of Pink” meet in Tuscaloosa against Missouri. The men’s tennis team returns to from Minnesota to Tuscaloosa to take on Tulsa. The Alabama swimming and diving team travels to Auburn to participate in the Auburn Invitational and the Tide indoor track and field team heads out to Albuquerque to participate in the New Mexico Classic.

Coach Patrick Murphy’s softball team opens its season this weekend playing North Carolina and Florida State in a double-header today at noon and at 5:00 p.m. The top-ranked Crimson Tide will play both teams again on Saturday taking on the Seminoles at 2:00 p.m. and the Tar Heels at 4:30 p.m. This Alabama team returns 13 players from its SEC championship roster from a year ago, including two first team All- Americans Bailey Hemphill and Montana Fouts.

Alabama won its season opener against North Carolina 5-2. Freshman pitcher Lexi Kilfoyll recorded seven strikeouts in six innings to win her first game in a Crimson Tide uniform. Alabama gymnastics will hold its 16th annual “Power of Pink” meet tonight at Coleman Coliseum. The seventh ranked Crimson Tide will host the 21st ranked Missouri Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Alabama returns home after defeating the LSU Tigers last Friday night. Missouri recorded its season-high in scoring last weekend at Auburn as the Tigers scored 196.650 on the road. Alabama averages 196.693 points per meet and scored a season high of 197.4 against defending national champions Oklahoma three weeks ago. The “Power of Pink” meet can be viewed on SECnetwork+.

The Alabama men’s tennis team takes on Tulsa tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the final non-conference matchup of the year at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility. The Crimson Tide is 6-2 on the season and 5-1 at home. The Tide returns to Tuscaloosa after spending last weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alabama is led by senior Zhe Zhou who is 7-0 in singles play this season. There will be free hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the Crimson Racket Club for those who make it out to support the Tide. The match will be streamed on RollTide.com.

The Alabama swimming and diving team will be competing in the Auburn Invitational this weekend with morning session prelims and afternoon session finals. This will be the team’s final outing before the SEC Championships later in the month. The team will use this invitational as a chance to finalize its roster heading into the SEC Championships.

The Crimson Tide track and field team will take part in the New Mexico Classic this weekend held at the Albuquerque Convention Center. This is the fourth event of the season for the Crimson Tide and a great chance to get familiar with the facilities that will host the indoor national championships in March.
