University of Alabama junior shortstop Mikey White was selected as a Preseason Third Team All-American by Perfect Game USA, the organization announced Friday.

White enters this season after a standout 2014 year in which the shortstop batted .300 (71-237) with nine doubles, two triples and seven home runs. He recorded a team-leading 50 runs while knocking in 33 RBI through 61 starts. In postseason play, White was named to the NCAA Tallahassee All-Regional Team thanks to his one home run and team-high six runs scored.

He enters his junior year having started all 124 games in which he has played, posting a .293 (137-467) career batting average with 20 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. He has also recorded 63 RBI and 84 runs over his two seasons, while sporting an impressive .963 fielding percentage at shortstop. Across his two seasons at the Capstone, White has twice been named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament team (2013, 14), while also being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-SEC Second Team honoree in 2013.

White and the Crimson Tide will open regular season action on Feb. 13 when Alabama hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at the Tide’s 2015 home, the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
