Alabama baseball’s Mikey White was selected as a Preseason Second Team All-American by D1Baseball.com, the organization announced Tuesday morning. The preseason recognition is White’s second entering the 2015 season, as the junior shortstop was also named a preseason third team All-American by Perfect Game USA.

White enters his third season with the Crimson Tide after a standout first two years at the Capstone. White wrapped up 2014 batting .300 (71-237) with nine doubles, two triples and seven home runs. He contributed 33 RBI and a team-leading 50 runs through his 61 starts. In postseason action, White earned NCAA Tallahassee All-Regional honors in recognition of his one home run and team-leading six runs scored.

For his career, White is batting .293 (137-467) with 20 doubles, three triples and nine home runs. He has amassed 63 RBI and 84 runs scored over his two seasons with the Tide, and owns an impressive .963 fielding percentage over 124 starts at shortstop. Spanning his two seasons at UA, White has twice been named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament team (2013, 2014), while also being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-SEC second team honoree in 2013.

D1Baseball editors select their preseason All-America teams by identifying the best and most valuable college baseball players in the 2015 season. Past performance and future upside are factored into the deliberations, but the objective of the selection process was to identify the players who would provide the most value for a team. The selections on D1baseball’s list are the players best equipped to perform at an elite level if they were matched up against top-flight college competition this spring.

White and Alabama will begin their regular season in 10 days as the Crimson Tide hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for a three-game series starting on Friday, Feb. 13, inside Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
