The arrival of the first game week means the debut of the Alabama depth chart. Nick Saban adamantly denies any depth chart until the season begins to encourage competition and a true evaluation of his players.

The depth chart made was passed out at the Saban's Monday press conference and there weren't many surprises. As you'll see in the photo below, there are a handful of co-starters that the coaching staff will determine who they want to play first when the game begins.

A few notes from the depth chart:

  • Four running backs are listed in the top two spots. That means that all four have a good chance to get carries against Florida State, which would be expected considering the talent level at that position. Jacobs' status for Saturday is questionable due to a hamstring injury.
  • There is no certainty at placekicker after fall camp. It looks like Alabama will likely use one kicker for shorter attempts and JK Scott for the long kicks.
  • Matt Womack continues to hold onto the starting spot at right tackle, but true freshman Jedrick Wills has pulled even.
  • Senior Josh Frazier is listed at DE and DT and should provide depth along that line. He could even start game one depending on the health of Raekwon Davis.
  • True freshmen linebackers Dylan Moses and Christopher Allen are both listed as co-second team so we will likely see them both on field soon.

Alabama returned to the practice field on Monday afternoon with all attention turned to the matchup with No. 3 Florida State on Saturday night.
