The Alabama baseball season gets underway on Friday night with a series against Maryland, and head coach Mitch Gaspard knows who will be in the weekend pitching rotation.

Gaspard joined The Gary Harris Show on Wednesday to preview the season and laid out his rotation. He told the show that junior Geoffrey Bramblett will take the mound on Fridays, sophomore Jake Walters on Saturdays, and junior Nick Eicholtz on Sundays.

"Early on, there's no question that the strength of our team will be in our pitching staff," Gaspard told Gary Harris. "We've got some real depth there."

After a year of home games in Hoover, Alabama baseball will finally be able to enjoy a home field advantage again in Tuscaloosa. The new Sewell-Thomas Stadium underwent renovations that cost more than $40 million and the result is a new ballpark that is a better experience for fans.

The new Joe has improved sight lines down the left and right field foul line and includes a number of new amenities. Gaspard said he's excited to open the season in the new park.
