The University of Alabama continued its recruiting success in Louisiana when it received a commitment from safety Laurence "Hootie" Jones on Monday. The four-star prospect from Monroe, Louisiana is close friends with fellow Alabama commitments Cameron Robinson, Cameron Sims, and O.J. Smith, who all hail from the same state.

Jones is currently being recruited as a safety, but has the ability to play corner as well. Jones is your prototypical Nick Saban safety coming in at 6'2", 210 pounds. He is one athlete with great skills and speed. He is also not afraid to come down, hit, and play the run. His versatility will be need in a secondary that loses some key players. Deion Belue and John Fulton are all seniors while Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix is a strong candidate to leave for the NFL draft.

With this commitment from Jones, it gives Alabama two safeties in an impressive 2014 class, which is ranked first in every major recruiting service. It's clear that defensive backs are a huge priority, and the Crimson Tide has a good chance to land four-star safety C.J. Hampton from Meridian, Mississippi, who is currently committed to Ole Miss.

Jones is the 23rd commitment for 2014 and gives Alabama two of the top four players in Louisiana. With only a few spots left, the coaches will be in on some elite players leading up to signing day. Alabama's class continues to pull away from every other school in the country, and many analysts are predicting that this class will be the greatest in school history.
