Alabama Rising for 5-star DL Justus Terry
In the dawn of a new Era, the Kalen Deboer experiment has started and Alabama is off to a 2-0 start after a weird battle against South Florida this past weekend. One of the more impressive parts of the weekend though, comes in the news of 5-star defensive line recruit, Justus Terry, making his way to campus.
The highly touted lineman has been going through the typical stages of recruiting, such as visiting schools, talking about his offers, and evening posting to his Twitter in June that his recruitment is open:
Since then, all signs have pointed to the Georgia Bulldogs, but the Crimson Tide has not let up at all. Reports from On3 Sports say the Tide are much closer to first believed and could even make a bigger move depending on how the Crimson Tide do against Georgia when they come to Tuscaloosa to battle on September 28th. The Tide are 8-1 against the Bulldogs in the last 9 matchups, but now that Nick Saban is gone, Alabama will need to prove they are not going away.
One bigger picture people need to realize these days is no matter how good a school is, NIL can paint a much nicer mosaic than one truly understands. I think not only will NIL play a factor in his recruitment but also the true development of one's play and NFL potential. Georgia is extremely notorious for throwing players in the NFL, however, the Crimson Tide are still ranked #1 for players in the NFL, along with recently crossing the billion-dollar threshold in terms of contracts earned.
Terry was in Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide's 42-16 victory over South Florida. Alabama put on a clinic along the defensive line, with three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a staggering 10 quarterback hits in front of the highly-touted prospect. It also helped Alabama's recruitment that defensive lineman Tim Keenan III was named SEC defensive lineman of the week.
If Alabama can convincingly beat Georgia at the end of this month, I think Alabama will give itself a very good chance at landing the No. 8 overall player in the 2025 class, per On3 rankings, much better than originally thought after de-committing from USC.
