Alabama Soccer Ranked No. 24 in Soccer America Top-25 Poll
Alabama soccer is ranked No. 24 in the nation by Soccer America Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday. The national ranking comes after the Crimson Tide’s 3-1 start to the season, including a 1-0 shutout victory versus then-No. 6 Florida State.
The Tide was also among several other teams that received votes on TopDrawerSoccer.com and NSCAA’s top-25 rankings. Furthermore, Alabama jumped from 14th to eighth in the NSCAA Southeast Regional poll.
Alabama started the season with a 3-1 record after topping Jacksonville State, 5-1, in the season opener and Samford, 2-1, prior to its win over the Seminoles. The Tide suffered its lone loss to South Florida, 2-1, in overtime, who sits 15th on the NSCAA Southeast Regional ranks.
Alabama outlasted Florida State by one goal off the foot of Taylor Morgan who netted the first game-winner of her career. The triumph marked the first time Alabama defeated a top-10 nationally ranked opponent and is the second win over an ACC team in school history.
Alabama will play a pair of road games this weekend in Mobile, Ala., to take on South Alabama on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. CT and Troy on Sunday, Sept 3 at noon CT.
