The potent offense for Alabama softball from game one carried over into Saturday’s game two, as the Crimson Tide slugged three home runs to clinch the weekend series with a 10-4 win over Texas A&M.

Alabama (31-17, 11-12 SEC) trailed by two after Texas A&M (40-14, 13-10 SEC) scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first, but back-to-back home runs in the bottom half from freshman Kaylee Tow and sophomore Bailey Hemphill moved the Tide back in front, 3-2. Alabama led for the remainder of the game, scoring in four of the six innings they came to the plate.

Senior Sydney Booker posted four of the team’s 10 RBIs, legging out a two-run triple in the fourth inning and a two-run single in the sixth. Junior Reagan Dykes also had a pair of hits in the win, including a solo home run in the second inning. The three home runs ties a season high for the Tide. Junior Courtney Gettins (12-4) went the distance in the circle, scattering 11 hits but allowing just four runs, two earned.

After two groundouts to start the top of the first, a fielding error extended the inning for Texas A&M and they took advantage, loading the bases before Samantha Show dropped a two-run single into center field. In the bottom half of the inning with a runner on first, Tow lifted a two-run home run to right field to tie it at 2-2. Hemphill made it back-to-back in the next at-bat, smashing a solo shot to center field to give Alabama a 3-2 lead.

Dykes led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run, the Tide’s third long ball of the day to make it a 4-2 game. A walk to sophomore Claire Jenkins in the next at-bat ended Show’s outing in the circle as Kayla Poynter entered in relief for the Aggies. Alabama would eventually load the bases before the Texas A&M first baseman snagged a hard liner to end the inning.

The Aggies cut into the Tide’s lead with an RBI single in the top of the third but sophomore Gabby Callaway gave Alabama back a two-run lead with an RBI single in the bottom of fourth. Booker tacked on two more with a triple off the wall in right center but was tagged out at home trying to score for the final out of the inning with the score now 7-3.

Another RBI single for Texas A&M in the top of the fifth brought it back to a three-run lead for Alabama. The Tide led off the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back walks and senior Peyton Grantham laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. Booker then chopped a ball between the third baseman and shortstop to drive in both runs, making it a 9-4 game. An RBI double to the wall in center field from Dykes scored Booker to make it 10-4 before a fly ball ended the inning.

Down to its final two outs, Texas A&M hit a single and double to quickly put two in scoring position with one out. Sophomore Claire Jenkins fielded a hard grounder and made a heads-up play to tag the runner off the bag at third and fire over to first for the game-ending double play, giving Alabama the 10-4 win.

The weekend finale is set for a 1:30 p.m. CT start on Sunday, May 6.
