Coming off a 5-0 sweep this past weekend at the Easton Crimson Classic, Alabama Softball has improved their record to 14-0.

The Tide moved up one spot this week and now sits at No. 2 in the latest USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll. It was announced Tuesday. They received five first-place votes and sit under No.1 Oklahoma (12-0). The Sooners hold the top spot in all four polls this week.

Alabama moved up one spot to No. 3 in the NFCA poll, receiving three first-place votes. There was no change in the D1Softball and Softball America polls as the Tide remains third and fourth.

Alabama will face Mississippi State for a non-conference game at Rhoads Stadium on Wednesday before hosting the Easton T-Town Showdown.

Last weekend the Tide’s pitching staff threw three back-to-back shutouts. Most notably, starting pitcher Lexi Kilfoly threw Alabama's first no-hitter since 2018 against UNC last Saturday.

The athletes are better, the bats are hot, the ball is hot. The whole thing about softball is it’s more offensive oriented right now,” said head coach Patrick Murphy “To throw a shutout in a division one game is pretty dang impressive.”

Alabama has shown its skills in their 14 games so far this season and Wednesday's game will be a new chance to improve them.

"We have to pitch well, we have to play great defense, we can't give them extra outs," said Murphy. "Offensively we need to adjust to whatever they do in terms of pitching. If they switch a pitcher, we have to attack the next one."
