As Alabama heads into the 2017, the secondary could be the strength of another talented defense.

The Crimson Tide returns three starters in Ronnie Harrison, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Anthony Averett, and the group could be the most talented in the college football. Averett, now a senior, met with the media on Thursday to talk about fall camp and the upcoming season opener.

"I have a lot of confidence in our secondary this year," Averett said. "We all played last year. We're all coming back. We all played a lot of football. So I'm pretty confident in our secondary this year."

On a personal level, Averett said he's seeing things a lot better at his cornerback position, which could lead to more big plays in 2017.

"I see things more. I get to react quicker just because I've seen that route before, I've seen a play, I have a feel for things."

The team turned its attention to Florida State this week as it prepares for one of the biggest opening week game in college football history.

"For me, it's very exciting. I couldn't really wait ever since the Clemson game, I couldn't wait just to get back on the field and face another team. It's just going to be a big game, a big moment."
