Auburn basketball picked up its fifth SEC win of the season on Wednesday against South Carolina, but a lot of the post-game conversation focused on the fans.

Auburn Arena had its smallest crowd for an SEC game in the four years that the new facility has been open. Only 4,434 fans showed up for a game between two of the worst teams in the conference. Tigers' head coach Tony Barbee said he can only worry about what's happening on the court.

“All I can do, is control what I can control,” Barbee said after the game.

Even the fans that did make it to the game didn't necessarily stay the entire time. Veteran referee Ted Valentine tossed an Auburn fan sitting along the baseline out of the game midway through the second half. After eight straight fouls on the Tigers to start the half, Michael Hardin, 41, had enough.

“I don’t use profanity or anything like that,” Hardin told the Montgomery Advertiser. “Everybody was pretty frustrated and yelling at him the whole time anyway. It was just kind of my time I guess, and I told him ‘you got to blow your whistle (against South Carolina).’ He didn’t like that.”

Unlike many of the altercations we've seen in the past, Hardin grabbed his water and walked to the exit. Like many basketball fans in this state, he had seen enough.

A video of the ejection can be seen below.
