Capstone Report with DC: 12 in a Row over Tennessee
For the 12th consecutive time in the series, the Alabama Crimson Tide came out of the Third Saturday in October with a victory over the Tennessee Volunteers.
Alabama racked up 545 yards of total offense while holding Tennessee to 227 yards of total offense including 31 on the ground.
During Tuesday's "Capstone Report with DC" segment of The Blitz, former Alabama fullback Martin Houston and DC from Golden Shores Productions analyzed Saturday's win in Knoxville while breaking down the team's bye week.
Sophomore Tua Tagovailoa once again shined in front of a national audience as he carved up the Tennessee defense to the tune of 306 yards along with four touchdowns. In his analysis of Alabama's signal caller, the Golden Shores Productions analyst compared Tagovailoa to one of the National Football League's greatest quarterbacks regarding the ability to throw in tight spaces.
"I've only seen one other quarterback in my lifetime make those type of throws and that was Brett Favre." DC said.
DC provided an example of how the sophomore from Hawaii displayed his pinpoint accuracy on his touchdown toss to Jaylen Waddle in the first quarter.
:"He threaded the needle. Jaylen Waddle was not that open on that play. It just hit him in stride, hit him in his hands and ended up being a long touchdown pass." DC said.
In Saturday's win against the Volunteers, Irv Smith Jr. caught five passes for 50 yards including his fifth touchdown catch of the season. DC detailed how the use of Smith as a slot receiver opened up numerous opportunities on offense.
"I don't know if you saw where we used Irv Smith in the slot. I thought that was very innovative for our coaches using him in the slot, and it opened up a lot of passing lanes and some blocking on the outside because, up until this point, our blocking by our wide outs has not been the best it has been in years. I thought he did a great job." DC said.
In addition to his commentary on Alabama's defense, DC listed Tua Tagovailoa, Deonte Brown, Josh Jacobs, Irv Smith Jr., Quinnen Williams, Xavier McKinney and LaBryan Ray as his standout players against Tennessee.
