Charlie Potter of BamaOnline joined Travis Reier on Southern Fried Sports to discuss Christian Barmore, Greg Byrne's latest comments on football and the 2020 Iron Bowl. You can listen to the entire interview on Soundcloud or on the Tide 100.9 Youtube page.

Potter met with Barmore's trainer Troy Gore and said a lot of people are expecting a breakout season from the defensive lineman. Barmore flashed on several occasions last season but did not find consistent playing time nor consistent production in 2019.

Potter said Barmore is focusing on having a better understanding of the playbook and learning how he fits in certain defensive schemes. Potter was hopeful that Barmore could potentially fill the role of a defensive lineman who takes on blocks in the running game but also can get after the quarterback in the passing game.

The BamaOnline reporter spoke about the recent Tide Pride Townhall held recently by Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne. He reported that Byrne and Nick Saban are on board with holding a July teaching period for the football team. Byrne mentioned they are hopeful to have a football season just like normal this coming fall but admitted there are contingency plans being discussed.

Potter also got creative with former Alabama safety George Teague and asked him how he might fit into the Crimson Tide secondary today. Teague said he sees himself as a Minkah Fitzpatrick or Xavier McKinney type player. Teague said his versatility would come in handy and offer him lots of playing time.

Lastly the BamaOnline writer talked about the 2020 Iron Bowl and said the Tigers would be losing a lot defensively up front and need to find a new running back. The Tigers will also feature a new offensive coordinator and Potter said the changes for Auburn will make for an intriguing Iron Bowl this coming year.
