ESPN Blackout Will Impact Alabama-MTSU Game

The Walt Disney Company has pulled all its channels from the cable TV company Charter Spectrum.

In addition to taking away popular channels like ABC and National Geographic, Disney has also removed access to ESPN for Spectrum subscribers.

According to Al.com the channel blackout occurred last night, right as the college football season was kicking off. Fans watching the Utah-Florida game were met with an error screen saying that Disney had "removed their programming from Spectrum."

Spectrum has created a website that shares their side of the story.

On the site, Spectrum explained that ESPN and other channels were taken away due to Disney's greed. "We offered Disney a fair deal," the site reads, "Yet they are demanding an excessive increase."

Disney responded in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, stating that "[T]he rates and terms we are seeking in this renewal are driven by the marketplace."

Al.com reported that Spectrum Charter would be holding a conference call with investors today to discuss the channel blackout.
