A week into Alabama football's fall camp, there are still more questions than answers at the quarterback position.

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said the starting position is wide open during Sunday's Media Day and fans saw that at the open practice later that day.

FOX Sports college football reporter Bruce Feldman joined The Game on Tuesday night to discuss the position. While he thinks the Crimson Tide will be atop the Southeastern Conference again, he's not sure just how good they'll be.

"I have (Alabama) winning the SEC," Feldman told host Ryan Fowler. "I'm not sure if they're going to be a top two or three team, though. The question I have, like last year going into the season, is you have a question at quarterback."

As he points out, much was made out of the quarterback position in August, but Blake Sims went on to have a record-breaking season under Kiffin. There's a lot of hope that this year's starter could enjoy similar success, but Feldman points out one big difference from 2014 to 2015.

"I think what alleviated some of the issues was you had (wide receiver) Amari Cooper, who was a go-to guy," Feldman said. "Right now, I don't know if there is that guy that the new quarterback, whoever it is, will lean on."

At this point, most indications are Jake Coker or David Cornwell will win the job, but true freshman Blake Barnett has been impressive in his short time on campus. Feldman got to know the California native and his skill-set while working on the book The QB: The Making of Modern Quarterbacks.

"(Barnett's) an impressive kid. He's very athletic, and he has a strong arm. I think his work ethic is pretty good.

"Physically, it's just a matter of time. He still looks like a younger guy, both facially and development-wise. I'm curious, in two years I could see Blake Barnett being 6'4", 220 pounds and being a guy that could almost run like a wide receiver."

The Alabama football team is in the midst of nine straight days of practice, which culminates with the team's first fall scrimmage on Saturday. It will be the first big opportunity for one of the quarterbacks to make a case for the starting job.
