It is certainly no surprise that Alabama and Florida are meeting in the SEC Tournament.  It seems like it happens every year.

It doesn’t ACTUALLY happen. It just feels like it.

The two squads have met 14 times in the league’s postseason event…including three of the past four seasons.

Alabama doesn’t always lose to the Gators on the hardwood.

It doesn’t ACTUALLY happen. It just feels like it.

Florida won 10 straight in the series…and 21 of the past 24. Yet, the Tide still owns a 73-65 edge all-time.

None of that really matters Thursday when they tip at Noon Central in Nashville.

It matters to Alabama fans that Anthony Grant has never beaten Billy Donovan in 10 previous matchups – including a 52-50 decision on January 27th.

And it should.

It does not matter to most Alabama fans that Grant has beaten every other SEC team since he’s been in the league.

But it probably should.

It also doesn’t matter to either side that the opposition is less than 100% coming into the contest. Clearly, the first matchup showed the two sides were evenly matched – as did the fact both tied for 8th place in the league.

A Friday matchup with Kentucky awaits the winner (Some prize, huh?), but so too does the chance to continue play next week.

Many people believe Alabama clinched a spot in the NIT with their road win at Texas A&M. A victory over the Gators might be good enough to garner a home game or two in the tourney.
