Bobby Colantonio Jr. set a University of Alabama record when he tossed 24.15m in the weight throw at the Blazer Invitational. This throw also ranks number seven on the all-time collegiate weight throw list. It is the longest weight throw in the world this track and field season.

Weight throw at the college level is a field sport where male competitors see how far they can throw a 35 lb. hammer. The Alabama record was previously held by Daniel Haugh who threw 23.06m back in February 2017.

Colantonio also received SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors via secsports.com for this performance.

Colantonio shattered his own school record by a whole meter. In an excellent autobiographical feature article, Colantonio details his own battle with cancer and how "Alabama saved his life."
