It’s a Roll Tide Kind of Day Against the Bulldogs, Alabama Athletics Claim Two Top-5 Wins
Saturday was a historic day at the University of Alabama.
At 3:00 p.m., the school's No. 3 ranked football team played against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. Going into the game, UGA was the most dominant team in all of college football, led by one of the best defenses the game has seen in quite some time.
At 7:00 p.m., the school's No. 16 ranked basketball team played against the No. 3 Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Battle in Seattle. Gonzaga had more five-star recruits than Bama could ever imagine having. In terms of ranking, Gonzaga has been the "Alabama" of basketball schools over the past few years.
24 hours ago, Alabama football and basketball fans feared that both of their teams would lose in these underdog matchups. However, that was not the case.
The Tide dominated in Georgia 41-24 behind a record shattering day by quarterback Bryce Young.
Alabama wasn't in Tuscaloosa for either game. Both games were considered neutral site games. However, the opposing schools had more fans in each stadium.
ESPN announced that Alabama is the first school to beat AP top-5 teams in college football and basketball in the same day.
In sports, records are broken very often. However, this one will likely last for a long time.
