Alabama’s Homecoming to Feature UA’s First-Ever Drone Light Show
The skies above the University of Alabama campus will light up with the school's first-ever drone light show to cap off a week of Homecoming events ahead of Saturday's football game against Missouri.
The University shared a calendar of events for the week ahead Tuesday, which included their announcement of the Friday night drone light show alongside the annual pep rally and bonfire.
The pep rally will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and the aerial show will follow at 7:30.
According to a media release, Alabama is working with Pixis, a company with experience creating shows for multiple NFL and MLB teams, other colleges and universities, and entertainment industry members.
The Homecoming theme this year is appropriately “New Era, Same Standard,” and many events are planned before kickoff on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The homecoming parade is scheduled for 10 a.m., and Tide legend Shaun Alexander will serve as grand marshal. The route begins downtown on Greensboro Avenue next to Hudson Poole Fine Jewelers before a turn onto University Boulevard and the short drive to campus.
Lawns and businesses across Tuscaloosa are being decorated this week by Bama students hoping to win the Paint the Town Red competition, and fans can vote for the best display by scanning QR codes displayed at each site.
There is a dodgeball competition for students on Tuesday, a Day of Service event and a flag football contest on Wednesday, a choreography competition for students, alumni and community members on Thursday and finally the pep rally, bonfire and drone light show on Friday.
Friday will also feature the 50th annual step show sponsored by the National Panhellenic Council at 8 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
