The University Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa is holding a men's event and fundraiser on Monday, August 7.

The event, called Pigskin Kickoff, will feature "an exciting evening" marked by "the spirit of college football" a recent press release stated.

The press release also highlighted the event headliner, ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis. "Known for his charismatic on-air presence, Davis will deliver an inspiring keynote address, offering unique insights into the world of college football," the release said.

The Pigskin Kickoff will take place at the University Church of Christ at 1200 Julia Tutwiler Drive. The event will start at 6 p.m. on August 7, with doors opening at 5:15 p.m.

Tickets for the Pigskin Kickoff are $25 apiece, and a table for eight can be reserved for $350.

Event chairman David Hardin said that this is the second year for Pigskin Kickoff. He revealed they were able to book Rece Davis partly due to Hardin's friendship with him, but also Davis's connection to the University Church of Christ. "Rece was active at the student ministry there in school," said Hardin.

The event will feature a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting Tuscaloosa Angels, a charitable organization serving local foster children and families. Hardin listed some of these prizes, including several Nick Saban signed baseball caps and a practice jersey signed by Brandon Miller.

Neil Reynolds, the Senior Minister of University Church of Christ spoke on the importance of the gathering. "This event is not only a celebration of college football," Reynolds said, "but also an opportunity to come together in order to demonstrate love and generosity to others."
