Jalen Hurts Drafted By Eagles
Former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback has been selected by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles picked Hurts with the 53rd overall pick, the 21st pick in the second round. Hurts becomes the fourth quarterback drafted in the 2020 draft and the first picked on day two. He joins the Eagles who already have Carson Wentz playing quarterback.
Hurts finished second place in Heisman Trophy voting this past year at Oklahoma as a graduate transfer. He has a 39-4 record as a starter coming out of college. Hurts was SEC Offensive and Freshman of the Year in 2016, he won two SEC Championships and a Big 12 Championship. Hurts was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in 2019.
Hurts finished college with 9,477 yards passing on 65% completions, he threw 80 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Hurts also rushed for 3,274 yards and 43 touchdowns.
He will join the Eagles who have Carson Wentz under contract until 2024, however Wentz has a history of missing time with injury, missing five games in 2018 and three games in 2017.
Last year's 53rd pick was his new teammate Miles Sanders. Sanders signed a four-year $5.3 million contract with the Eagles, Hurts will receive a similar contract.
