Jay Barker, a former Alabama football star and current sports talk show host, has been found guilty of a misdemeanor and sentenced to probation after he was arrested in Nashville in January following an incident with his wife, country star Sara Evans.

The arrest came after Barker allegedly almost struck Evans with a vehicle outside of their home in Nashville -- the two were reportedly separated and Evans had filed for divorce at the time of the incident.

A warrant obtained and shared by a Nashville TV station shortly after the arrest said police believe Barker intentionally reversed a vehicle down the driveway towards Evans and a friend, who were returning from a party in the neighborhood.

The cars did not collide, but Barker was originally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.

The criminal case was heard by Judge Ana L. Escobar in Nashville Thursday morning, and Barker was found guilty of the less-serious misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment.

Court records say Barker was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days probation after the verdict came down.
