Jonathan Allen Apologizes After Choosing Controversial Characters For His Hypothetical Dinner
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
Former Alabama football player and current Washington Commander Jonathan Allen seemed to have caught a bit of "foot-in-mouth" disease while killing time on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
Allen, clearly bored, tweeted, "ask me anything" at 2:22 a.m. on Wednesday morning and was met with a several conversation starters from fans looking to interact with the star defensive lineman.
"You can have dinner with three people, dead or alive. Who are you inviting?" - @NickChaps96.
"My grandad, hitler and michael jackson" - @jonallen93_
Allen was immediately met with backlash on social media for even considering dinner with the architect of one of the biggest atrocities in human history.
The 2017 first rounder explained that Hitler's military prowess and maniacal mind makes him an intriguing dinner guest.
Could Allen not have chosen military geniuses such as Napoleon, Genghis Khan or even Dwight D. Eisenhower?
The 2021 Pro Bowler reveals a deeper side of himself with his dinner guest choices, his grandfather, an evil dictator and a controversial musician.
Allen, very clearly, is looking for a deeper insight from men who have, for better or worse, made a mark on the world.
The Washington Commander addressed social media later on Wednesday apologizing to those he may have hurt or upset with his answer, noting that he could have explained himself more clearly.
Perhaps the lesson for Allen and others is to get off the social media after a certain time of night as nothing good happens after midnight.
