Labaron Philon Week 2 Summer League Recap

Former Crimson Tide player Labaron Philon played in two out of the three losses for the Philadelphia 76ers Summer League team this week. Philon was technically a negative for the team, looking at the plus/minus in the stat sheet, averaging 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals on 46.4/20.5/100 shooting splits with a -17.5 plus/minus.

In Game 1 against the Rockets, it was a blowout loss where the entire team seemed to struggle, except for Philon. He went for 17, 2, 4, and 2 steals on 63.6/33.3/100 shooting splits. In Game 2 against the Magic, Philon struggled tremendously from the field with 15, 6, 6, and 2 steals on 29.2/7.7/0.0 splits (he didn’t shoot free throws in Game 2)

Philon has continued to show off his excellent shot creation and playmaking abilities throughout the week, but unfortunately, it did not result in wins. In game one, it looked like he was the only player on the court for the majority of the game. He was able to get to the midrange and bucket at will, getting 12 of his 17 from that area, but no one else could convert in meaningful minutes. In game two, he was making really good passes, setting his teammates up with the easiest buckets they could ask for. Unfortunately, the buckets did not come easy for him, shooting 7/24 from the field and 1/13 from three in a very close loss, making it by far his worst game of the summer league. This was just a sample size we saw from Philon, and we are all ready to see a bounce-back after the upcoming team training camps.
