Landon Collins and JK Scott Among Eight Players of the Week

Eight Alabama players were recognized by the coaching staff following Saturday’s 14-13 victory at Arkansas. Jalston Fowler and T.J. Yeldon were honorees on offense, while Ryan Anderson, Landon Collins and Trey DePriest represented the defense. Jonathan Allen, Reggie Ragland and JK Scott made the special teams list.

Fowler again did an outstanding job blocking from his fullback position. He also made a nice catch on a ball near his feet that resulted in a nine-yard gain. Yeldon was the team’s leading rusher with 45 yards on 16 carries. He caught two passes for 35 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown that put Alabama up 7-0 with 8:40 left in the second quarter.

Arkansas came into the game averaging 316.6 yards per game on the ground, which ranked first in the SEC and sixth nationally. The Crimson Tide held the Razorbacks to just 89 rushing yards on 39 attempts for an average of 2.3 yards per carry. Anderson recorded three tackles, 1.5 for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery. Collins was credited with eight total stops, one for loss and two pass break-ups. His interception late in the fourth quarter sealed the victory and allowed Alabama to run the remaining time off the clock. DePriest had six tackles, a half tackle for loss, and a forced fumble.

On special teams, Allen made the play that would end up being the difference in the game when he blocked an extra point in the second quarter. Scott had another solid outing at punter, averaging 44.2 yards on eight punts with no return yards. He dropped seven punts inside the 20 and six inside the 15. Scott is averaging 46.7 yards per punt to rank fourth nationally. Ragland plays on the kickoff, punt and field goal units. He led the team with 12 tackles, including a stop inside the 20 on kick coverage.
