After earning the win in both of Alabama's victories over No. 10/8 Arkansas in Fayetteville last weekend, star pitcher Montana Fouts has been named SEC pitcher of the week, the conference announced on Twitter this afternoon.

In her two starts, Fouts earned complete-game victories, all while striking out 23 batters and giving up just three total unearned runs. She was especially dominant in her second start of the weekend on Sunday, giving up just three hits, no runs and striking out eleven, good enough for her fifth shutout of the season.

In Friday's series opener, Fouts gave up five hits and three unearned runs but struck out 12 batters. She also held the Razorbacks to a .157 average combined over the two wins.

This was no small task, as Arkansas boasts one of the most potent offenses in the nation and Sunday marked just the second time this season they have been shut out.

They also had hit at least one home run in 31 of their past 35 games, and Fouts did not give up a single home run.

Alabama had also not won a series in Fayetteville since 2015, and it was the first home series loss for the Razorbacks since 2017.

This is the second time this season Fouts has won this award and the third time in her career after winning four "freshman of the week" honors during the 2019 season. Alabama has now claimed seven weekly conference awards this season as a team.

With a huge series against fellow SEC powerhouse Florida in Tuscaloosa this weekend, Fouts will need to continue to be at her best as Alabama heads into the most important part of their season.
