New York Giants Add Former Alabama RB in Midst of Preseason

East Rutherford, N.J — About three weeks away from the kickoff of the 2026-2027 NFL season, the New York Giants added former Alabama running back Najee Harris to their roster.

Harris spent four years in Tuscaloosa, racking up 3843 yards and 46 scores, helping the Tide take home two national titles.

In a corresponding move, the Giants released wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to open a roster spot for Harris.

Prior to signing with the Giants, Harris spent the first four seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording over 1000 yards each year. Harris added 28 touchdowns during his time in the Steel City.

After his rookie contract expired, Harris headed out west, signing a one-year, $5.25 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Harris made three appearances in LA, recording 61 yards on 15 carries before tearing his Achilles in week three of the 2025 season.

Harris will ramp up and finish his rehab while looking to secure a spot on the final 53-man New York Giants roster ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
