Mississippi receiver Laquon Treadwell is out for the season after breaking his left fibula and dislocated his ankle in the No. 7 Rebels' 35-31 loss to No. 4 Auburn on Saturday night.

Ole Miss spokesman Kyle Campbell confirmed the extent of the injury and said Treadwell had surgery late Saturday night.

The 6-foot-2, 229-pound sophomore was injured trying to score the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes of the game. The play was initially ruled a touchdown, but it was overturned after replays showed he fumbled just short of the goal line. Auburn recovered the fumble.

Treadwell is the team's leading receiver this season and caught 10 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown Saturday.

Ole Miss (7-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference, No. 4 CFP) has lost two straight games.
