The Alabama Crimson Tide put in two hours of work in full pads on Tuesday afternoon at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
Tuesday’s session was the 10th in a series of 25 practices for the Crimson Tide as it prepares for its season-opening contest with Louisville in the Camping World Kickoff Game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 1. The match-up between the Tide and Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ABC.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts is one of 47 players named to the 2018 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list, award organizers announced Tuesday. The Houston, Texas, native was one of five finalists for the award as a freshman in 2016 and enters this 2018 season with a 26-2 record as a starter.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is presented to the top offensive player in NCAA Division I football who exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. Nominees must either be born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas high school and or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Alabama returns 12 starters from last season's squad that finished 13-1 and won the school’s 17th national championship. The Tide has claimed four of the last six SEC titles and five of the last nine national championships. Across the last 10 seasons under head coach Nick Saban Alabama owns a 125-14 (.899) record.
